Please see the latest curated information from the Grogan's Mill Village news letter, Woodlands Online, and The Community Impact which provides the latest updates for the Grogan’s Mill Village Center (GMVC).
Key Highlights:
On May 12, 2023 The Grogan’s Mill Village Association announced that the strip centers and the site of the former Randall's store in the Grogan’s Mill Shopping Center at S Millbend and Grogan’s Mill have been acquired by the Howard Hughes Corporation.
Members of the Howard Hughes Organization met with the store owners in the Grogan’s Mill shopping center recently to brief them on their situation.
On May 16, 2023, Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack announced in a news release a “land swap” proposal between the county and The Howard Hughes Corp. for Grogan's Mill Village Center. The swap would involve Howard Hughes receiving the current South Regional Library and South County Community Center property, and the county receiving the Grogan’s Mill Village Center space, including parking and the newly constructed public building(s)
The plan would solidify the long-awaited and much-anticipated redevelopment of the oldest village center in The Woodlands – WITHOUT any apartment or housing development on the property, eliminating concerns of township residents.
In the plan proposed by Commissioner Noack’s team, the revitalized center would include a permanent structure for The Woodlands Farmers Market at Grogan’s Mill and other wanted amenities to be released by Howard Hughes, in addition to the modern public library and new South County Community Center.
As of May 16 no plans have been announced by Howard Hughes regarding project scopes or timeframes. The Howard Hughes Corp. said in a statement it will work with local entities and residents on the future of the center.

We are confident that together we can create a vibrant center that makes our entire community proud. - Jim Carman, President of The Howard Hughes Corporation
🧿 Does this exemplify the collaborative efforts that the new township board of directors pledged during their campaign? Specifically, are they fulfilling their promise to foster cooperation among various parties with a goal to revitalize the community and establish symbiotic relationships?
🧿 Do you think this would have been facilitated under the leadership of the previous board?
🧿 Now that there is movement regarding revitalizing at least one of the Village Centers, will the others soon follow?
In answer to the questions, yes it does exemplify, no it would NOT have occurred unless the board changed, I dont know if the others will soon follow but I do know its part of the literal strategic plan. Consistent with that plan those others should follow. - Dr. Tom Chumbley
Shouldn’t your subtitle more correctly be “County suggests a potential land swap deal with HHC”? By writing “announces” your subtitle is implying that a deal is already made.
