Below is the official Press release from the Township:
🧿 The call out which is needed isn’t what is included in this release, rather context left out which is particularly intriguing. The following questions come to mind:
Who is on the Economic Development Zone (EDZ) Board? Is it the same board as the Township Board?
Why did this NEED to have a rushed special meeting just prior to 4 newly elected board members starting?
According to Monique Sharp, president and CEO of The Woodlands Township, the township was contacted by The Woodlands Mall Associates six months ago, and the board discussed the proposal on three occasions in executive session. She also said because multiple entities are involved in the project, including The Woodlands Mall, the township was not able to disclose details about the proposal until it was approved by all parties.
What time constraints determined this needed to be approved before the end of the year?
Why was it announced for the first time just 72 hours prior to the special meeting and voted on so suddenly?

The Township Board and the EDZ Board have the same members.
Could this EDZ board have assisted with the Village Centers such as Grogan's Mill and Panther Creek? I've only heard for the past couple of years that The Township can't do anything... That they have no power to do anything and yada yada. What if half the effort of the 6 months of secret meetings was put into solutions for the dilapidating Village Centers and working with all needed parties?
